Apex Legends TDM Cup
Standard Tournament Ruleset
This is the standard ruleset for all Ares2 Esports Apex Legends Team Deathmatch tournaments. Event-specific details such as dates, prize pool, bracket structure, and team count are published per tournament. By registering for any Ares2 TDM tournament, your team agrees to every rule in this document.
Roster Composition
Each team consists of:
- 3 starting players (required)
- 1 substitute (optional)
- 1 coach (optional)
Roster rules:
- A minimum of 3 starting players must be in the lobby for a match to begin. If a team cannot field 3 players, the match is forfeited.
- Substitutes cannot enter a round in progress. They may only be swapped in between rounds within a series.
- Coaches may be in voice communications only between rounds. Coaches may not communicate with their team during active rounds.
- Rosters lock at the first check-in of the tournament. No additions or swaps beyond the registered substitute.
Format
All Ares2 TDM tournaments are single-elimination brackets with randomized seeding via Battlefy. Series length follows the standard structure below. Specific bracket structure, team count, and parallel lobby scheduling vary by event.
| Stage | Series Length |
|---|---|
| Early Bracket Rounds | Best of 3 |
| Semifinals | Best of 5 |
| 3rd Place Match | Best of 5 |
| Grand Finals | Best of 7 |
Series win conditions:
- Best of 3: first team to 2 round wins
- Best of 5: first team to 3 round wins
- Best of 7: first team to 4 round wins
Eliminated teams are not required to remain available for the remainder of the tournament.
Match Settings
All matches are played using the following private match settings:
- Game Mode: Team Deathmatch (TDM)
- Map: Skull Town
- Score Limit: 30 kills
- Time Limit: 10 minutes
- Friendly Fire: Off
Legend rules:
- All legends and abilities are available.
- Each player locks their legend at the start of each round.
- Legends cannot be changed mid-round.
- Players may change legends between rounds within a series.
Lobby Hosting
Each match has a designated hosting captain. The higher-seeded team’s captain hosts the lobby (Battlefy random seeding determines bracket position).
The hosting captain is responsible for:
- Creating the private match lobby with the official settings (Section 03)
- Sharing the lobby code in the team’s designated Discord channel
- Posting a screenshot of the lobby settings to admins before the first round begins
If lobby settings do not match the official specification, the round is null and replayed with correct settings. Repeated configuration errors may result in admin penalty.
Check-In and Forfeits
Check-In:
- All players must check in via the Ares2 Esports Discord before scheduled match start.
- Check-in includes confirming roster presence and posting the team’s stream link for that match.
- Failure to check in before match start may result in forfeit at admin discretion.
Forfeits:
- A team that has not joined the lobby with 3 players within 10 minutes of scheduled match start time forfeits the match.
- A team that disconnects from the tournament Discord without notice during a series forfeits the remaining games in that series.
Streaming Requirement
Every team must have at least one player live-streaming their personal POV for the entire duration of every match they play.
- Approved platforms: Twitch, YouTube, Kick, Facebook Gaming
- Stream must be public and viewable
- No artificial stream delay. Native platform delay is acceptable.
- Designated streamer must be live at least 5 minutes before scheduled match start.
- Stream link must be posted in the team’s designated Discord channel before round 1.
The streaming requirement exists for dispute resolution, broadcast visibility, and competitive integrity. Teams that cannot meet this requirement may not participate.
Disconnects and Tiebreakers
Host disconnect: If the hosting captain disconnects during a round, the round restarts from the current series score. Hosting may temporarily transfer to the opposing captain if the original host cannot reconnect within a reasonable window.
Non-host player disconnect: If a non-host player disconnects during a round, the round restarts from the current series score. Each team is allowed one (1) disconnect restart per series. After a team’s restart is used, any further disconnects on that team play out with the team playing short for the rest of the round.
Tied round: If a round ends at the 10-minute time cap with both teams tied on kills, the round is replayed in the same lobby. The tied round does not count toward the series score.
Game-wide issues: If an Apex Legends update, server outage, or other game-wide issue affects the tournament, admins may pause, postpone, or modify the schedule at their discretion. Updates will be communicated immediately via Discord.
Results Reporting
After every match in a series concludes, both team captains must post the final round score in the designated Discord channel within 5 minutes of match end.
Required format:
Match: [Team A] vs [Team B] Round: [Series round] Score: [Team A] X - X [Team B] Winner: [Team Name]
If both captains’ reports match, the result is confirmed and entered into Battlefy. If reports do not match, admins will pull both teams’ stream VODs and adjudicate.
Code of Conduct
All participants are expected to compete with respect and integrity.
Prohibited behavior:
- Harassment, slurs, hate speech, or targeted abuse
- Threats of violence, doxxing, or sharing private information
- Match-fixing, collusion, or any form of competitive dishonesty
- Cheating: aimbots, wallhacks, scripts, macros, exploits, or any third-party software providing a competitive advantage
- Bug abuse or intentional exploitation of game glitches
- Account sharing, smurfing, or boosting
- Disrespect toward admins, opponents, casters, or staff
Violations may result in warnings, round or match forfeits, removal from the tournament, ban from future Ares2 Esports events, or any combination at admin discretion.
Stream Sniping
Players may not watch any active tournament stream while their own match is in progress. This includes:
- Watching opponent team or player streams during your bracket match
- Viewing the official Ares2 Esports multicast while your match is live
- Using any second-screen tool that provides opponent positional or comms information
Stream sniping is grounds for immediate forfeit of the round or match in question, at admin discretion.
Disputes
If a team disputes a result, ruling, or rules interpretation:
- The team captain opens a ticket within the Ares2 Esports Discord within 10 minutes of the disputed event.
- The captain provides a clear written summary plus any supporting VOD timestamps.
- Admins review and rule within a reasonable window.
- Admin rulings are final.
Frivolous or repeated unfounded disputes may result in penalty at admin discretion.
Prize Pool
Prize pool amounts and placement distribution vary by event and are published in event-specific materials.
Distribution policy:
- Prizes are paid to the team captain via the payment method specified in the event materials.
- The captain is responsible for distributing the prize among teammates.
- Players must provide valid contact and payment information at registration.
- Ares2 Esports is not responsible for internal team disputes over prize distribution.
Admin Discretion
These rules cover the most common scenarios but cannot anticipate every situation. For anything not explicitly covered, admins may make rulings at their discretion in the spirit of fair play. Admin rulings are final for the duration of the tournament.
By registering, all players and teams agree to these rules in their entirety.
